Every day I introduce activities to engage the friends in. They may be as simple as setting up some canisters and upside down blocks to play drums. It may be coloring with markers, painting, water play, or legos.
What is so amazing is what the friends will do and how different they all are from one another. I have a unique group in that they are all boys and all blonde. This does not, however, mean that they are in any way similar.
One friend loves balls, another the drums, one loves cars and trucks, another the stroller and baby dolls, one appreciates legos, another likes to paint and draw. They all like books, but usually not all at the same time. They all seem to like dancing and music but it seems to be different kinds of music that suits their fancy. One friend will ask me to sing. Another will tell me NO.
The vocabulary of each friend seems to be growing on a daily basis and this fills me with great pride, even if I'm not their parent.
I was asked this morning if we could go for a walk. Another friend asked if I would read a book.
First we read the book and then we went for a walk. We can make it all work.
