Group effort

We have been working very hard on a project. It has been a complete group effort. Carman and I have been responsible for the balloon paper Mache and then all the friends are invited to participate in the painting. Then the grand finale is adding the fun shapes to create.... drum roll please! Paper Mache jack-o-lantern baskets or lanterns for Halloween.

It has been truly fun. Since some friends only attend on certain days, Carman and I will continue to help them with the project as the week progresses.

The friends continue to get to know each other better as each week passes. They have really funny senses of humor and they feed off each other constantly laughing, and being silly. (This is one of the many reasons that I love this job!)

Wow we have been busy!

Dressing up can be so fun! We tried out the lion costume, the scarecrow and the frog. We did some trading and some role playing. It was glorious for a while, then the request was off, off, off and all done!

So busy in fact that I haven't posted for some time.
We have painted hand prints, dressed up (again) in costumes, taken walks to pick up Carman from school, sung lots of songs, read lots of books, and dealt with some challenging events such as biting and scratching.

All and all, things are good. It's just a matter of getting these boys to respect each others bodies and space... no small feat.

monday, monday

The team work today between these two friends was astounding. They dumped a whole bag of new craft pom pom balls on the floor three times! And each time they picked them all up, together. Then they proceeded to, as indicated in this picture, to put all the pieces of the puzzle away that had been previously deposited on the floor. You just gotta love that.

Here we see one of our friends playing with one of the cats, Pumpkin. Just before I had been able to capture the fun on camera the friend had been laughing such a sweet guttural laugh that my eyes teared up with laughter and glee.

listening....

Carman and I have been rocking out to the Neverending Story theme song that was done by the kajagoogoo guy(too shy shy, hush, hush eye to eye)

She pretty much knows it by heart.

This morning one of the friends asked if we would get down the tunnel to play with. This was a great idea. It was also one of the first times that when I mentioned snack the friends did not immediately drop what they were doing.

What have we been up to?

On Friday we had two small friends and Carman did not have school so we headed to the park. It was quite the walk and we had a good time checking out all the leaves turning color and dogs and cats in the yards on the way there. On our way back the boys were tired and fell asleep. It's always an adventure to get them in the house and then see who will remain asleep and who will wake up. Luckily one friend stayed asleep and the other friend decided they would fall back asleep. Hurray!

All the friends also discovered that colored markers are a blast. We recently purchased some that came with an extra perk of 5 markers that have scents. This was exciting as they smelled each one the marker got on their faces. Carman took this to a whole other level....

The Pumpkin Patch

What an absolutely gorgeous day!

We had such a fun time going on our field trip today. I wanted to say thank you very much to the parents and family that were able to come and join us. I look forward to having more adventures in the future for those that weren't able to make it this time.

The Pumpkin Patch has an animal barn that was a big hit for some friends and a little hay stack 'castle' with tunnels. A patch of pre-picked pumpkins for all the friends to explore and then a
really nice little covered area where we had our lunch that Sally prepared and set out for us. Thank you Sally!

Thank you everyone. If it weren't for naps I think we all could have spent all day out there.

We did have one friend that was not able to come out today because he was sick. We missed you!!!

Getting ready for Halloween.

I just couldn't resist putting the friends in costume this morning. We have a number of hand me downs from my daughter and a dear old friend in Eugene.

Each friend picked out a different costume which was good and really enjoyed having them on for a very brief time. There was a little play acting that made me smile.

We had a scarecrow a frog and a kitty.
